[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi recited on behalf of Malik, and Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz narrated that Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated that Ja'far ibn Muhammad and Muhammad ibn Abdusalam narrated that Yahya ibn Yahya said: I read on behalf of Malik, from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, that Umar ibn Al-Khattab saw a luxurious garment at the door of the mosque, so he said, "O Messenger of Allah, if you buy this and wear it on Fridays and when delegations visit you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Only those who have no share of the Hereafter wear this." Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ received some clothes as gifts, and he gave Umar a garment. Umar said, "O Messenger of Allah, you have made me wear it even though you said about the garment of Al-Atarid what you did not say about this one." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I did not make you wear it so that you could wear it." So, Umar gave it to his brother who was a polytheist in Mecca.  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ فِيمَا قَرَأَ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ح وَأنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ السَّلَامِ قَالَا ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ رَأَى حُلَّةً سِيَرَاءَ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوِ اشْتَرَيْتَ هَذِهِ فَلَبِسْتَهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَلِلْوَفْدِ إِذَا قَدِمُوا عَلَيْكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْهَا حُلَلٌ فَأَعْطَى عُمَرَ مِنْهَا حُلَّةً فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَسَوْتَنِيهَا وَقَدْ قُلْتَ فِي حُلَّةِ عُطَارِدٍ مَا قُلْتَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي لَمْ أَكْسُكَهَا؛ لِتَلْبَسَهَا فَكَسَاهَا عُمَرُ أَخًا لَهُ مُشْرِكًا بِمَكَّةَ
