[Machine] I did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying to a stick, pillar, or tree except that he placed it on his right or left temple, and he did not stand facing it motionless. This is the wording of the hadith from Ad-Dimashqi and in the narration of As-Sughani. Al-Walid ibn Kamil Al-Bajali reported that Al-Muhallab ibn Hujr Al-Bahrani narrated to me and he said, "Dubaa'ah narrated to me, and he did not say Ibn Aswad."  

مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي إِلَى عُودٍ وَلَا عَمُودٍ وَلَا شَجَرَةٍ إِلَّا جَعَلَهُ عَلَى حَاجِبِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ أَوِ الْأَيْسَرِ وَلَا يَصْمُدُ لَهُ صَمَدًا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ الدِّمَشْقِيِّ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ الصَّغَانِيِّ قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ كَامِلٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي الْمُهَلَّبُ بْنُ حُجْرٍ الْبَهْرَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي ضُبَاعَةُ وَلَمْ يَقُلِ ابْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ
