[Machine] He said that the Prophet ﷺ commanded Bilal to call the Adhan, so he placed his fingers in his ears. The Prophet ﷺ looked at him but did not object to it. Since that day, this practice became Sunnah. It has been narrated from Ibn Sirin that Bilal used to place his fingers in his ears during some of his Adhans or Iqamahs.  

البيهقي:١٨٥٧أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ قُرِئَ عَلَى ابْنِ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَكَ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ حَارِثَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِلَالًا أَنْ يُؤَذِّنَ فَجَعَلَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ ذَلِكَ فَمَضَتِ السُّنَّةُ مِنْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَرُوِّينَا عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ أَنَّ بِلَالًا جَعَلَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ فِي بَعْضِ أَذَانِهِ أَوْ فِي إِقَامَتِهِ
