[Machine] Narrated by Umar ibn Al-Khattab, in the story of the prohibition of alcohol, he mentioned the hadith in which the verse was revealed: "O you who have believed, do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying" (Quran 4:43). So the caller (messenger) of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would announce that the intoxicated should not approach the prayer.  

البيهقي:١٨٢٧أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْخُتُلِّيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرٍو

عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ فِي قِصَّةِ تَحْرِيمِ الْخَمْرِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَفِيهِ فَنَزَلَتِ الْآيَةُ الَّتِي فِي النِّسَاءِ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَقْرَبُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَأَنْتُمْ سُكَارَى حَتَّى تَعَلْمُوا مَا تَقُولُونَ} [النساء 43] فَكَانَ مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يُنَادِي أَنْ لَا يَقْرَبَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ سَكْرَانُ
