ahmad:65Mūsá b. Dāwud > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Muʾammal

The halter fell from the hand of Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq. He struck the foreleg of his she-camel to make her kneel down, and they said to him: Why did you not tell us to pass it to you? He said: My beloved the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed me not to ask the people for anything.  

أحمد:٦٥حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ قَالَكَانَ رُبَّمَا سَقَطَ الْخِطَامُ مِنْ يَدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ قَالَ فَيَضْرِبُ بِذِرَاعِ نَاقَتِهِ فَيُنِيخُهَا فَيَأْخُذُهُ قَالَ فَقَالُوا لَهُ أَفَلا أَمَرْتَنَا نُنَاوِلْكَهُ؟ فَقَالَ

إِنَّ حِبِّي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ لَا أَسْأَلَ النَّاسَ شَيْئًا
