Reciting one of two verses about sin

ahmad:48 – Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > ʿUthmān min Āl Abī ʿAqīl al-Thaqafī

[AI] Shuba said: And he recited one of these two verses: "Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it" [al-Nisa: 123], and "And those who, when they commit an indecency" [Al Imran: 135].

أحمد:٤٨ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُثْمَانَ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي عَقِيلٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ:

قَالَ شُعْبَةُ: وَقَرَأَ إِحْدَى هَاتَيْنِ الْآيَتَيْنِ: ﴿مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ﴾ [النساء: 123]، ﴿وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا فَاحِشَةً﴾ [آل عمران: 135].
