ahmad:307Yazīd > And Rqāʾ Waʾabū al-Naḍr > Warqāʾ > ʿAbd al-Aʿlá al-Thaʿlabī

I was with al-Baraʿ bin ʿAzib and ʿUmar bin al-Khattab ؓ in al-Baqee, looking for the new moon, when a rider came and was met by ʿUmar ؓ , who said: Where have you come from? He said: From the Bedouins. He said: Have you sighted the moon? He said: Yes. ‘Umar said: Allah Akbar! Verily one manʿs (testimony) is enough for the Muslims. Then ‘Umar got up and did wudooʿ, and he wiped over his leather slippers, then he prayed Maghrib. Then he said. This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do. Abun-Nadr said. He was wearing a jubbah with tight sleeves, and he brought his arm out from beneath it and wiped over his leather slippers.
