ahmad:290 – ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Ibn Jurayj > ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Mulaykah Qālatuwuffiyat Āb.ah Liʿuthmān b. ʿAffān Bimakkah Faḥaḍarahā Ibn ʿUmar And Ibn ʿAbbās And ʾInnī Lajālis Baynahumā > Ibn ʿUmar Liʿamriw b. ʿUthmān Wahū Muwājihuh Alā Tanhá > al-Bukāʾ

A daughter of ʿUthman bin ʿAffan died in Makkah and Ibn ʿUmar and Ibn ʿAbbas attended her funeral. I was sitting between them and ibn ʿUmar said to ‘Amr bin ʿUthman, who was facing him: why donʿt you tell them not to weep? For I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ʿThe deceased is tormented because of his familyʿs weeping for him.ʿ And he mentioned a hadeeth similar to that of Ismaʿeel from Ayyoob from Ibn Abu Mulaikah.  

أحمد:٢٩٠ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ قَالَتُوُفِّيَتِ ابْنَةٌ لِعُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ بِمَكَّةَ فَحَضَرَهَا ابْنُ عُمَرَ وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَإِنِّي لَجَالِسٌ بَيْنَهُمَا فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ لِعَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ وَهُوَ مُوَاجِهُهُ أَلا تَنْهَى

عَنِ الْبُكَاءِ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ
