ahmad-zuhd:205ʿAbdullāh > Bī > Wahbb. Jarīr from my father > Yaʿlá b. Ḥakīm > Sulaymān b. Abū ʿAbdullāh > Kān

[Machine] Abu Umamah, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , had prepared his provisions for his journey. He said, "I heard Ibn Umar say, 'Whoever wishes to see a man performing Hajj, let him look at Abu Umamah.'" So we said to him, "Are we not performing Hajj?" He replied, "You claim to be performing Hajj."  

الزهد لأحمد:٢٠٥حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنِي أبِي حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَعْلَى بْنَ حَكِيمٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

كَانَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَدْ أَحْقَبَ زَادَهُ خَلْفَهُ عَلَى رَحْلِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ «مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ حَاجٍّ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى أَبِي أُمَامَةَ ؓ » فَقُلْنَا لَهُ «أَوَمَا نَحْنُ حُجَّاجٌ؟» فَقَالَ «إِنَّكُمْ لَتَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّكُمْ حُجَّاجٌ»
