Ribat (guarding and vigilance for the sake of Allah) is better than fasting for a month
IBNHIBBAN 4623:
from Shuraḥbīl b. al-Simṭ —
Salman passed by ˹Shurahbil˺ while he was stationed for guarding and asked, "What are you doing here, Shurahabil?" Shurahabil replied, "I am performing ribat (guarding) in the cause of Allah." Salman said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The act of guarding for a day or a night is better than fasting and praying for an entire month.'"
