[Machine] Muawiya wrote to Abdurrahman bin Shibl, instructing him to teach the people what he had heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So, he gathered them and said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Learn the Quran, and when you have learned it, do not exaggerate its teachings, do not turn away from it, do not use it for material gain, and do not act with arrogance because of it.'"

Then he said, "Indeed, the merchants are the wicked ones." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, has Allah not permitted trade and forbidden usury?" He replied, "Yes, but they take oaths and sin."

Then he said, "The sinners are the people of Hell." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who are the sinners?" He replied, "The women." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, are they not our mothers, daughters, and sisters?" He said, "Yes, but when they are given something, they are ungrateful, and when they are tested, they are impatient."

Then he said, "The rider should greet the pedestrian, the pedestrian should greet the one sitting, and the smaller group should greet the larger group. Whoever responds to the greeting, it is for him, and whoever does not respond has nothing."

كَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ أَنْ عَلِّمِ النَّاسَ مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَجَمَعَهُمْ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «تَعَلَّمُوا الْقُرْآنَ، فَإِذَا عَلِمْتُمُوهُ، فَلَا تَغْلُوا فِيهِ، وَلَا تَجْفُوا عَنْهُ، وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا بِهِ، وَلَا تَسْتَكْثِرُوا بِهِ»

١٥٦٦٦/٢ - ثُمَّ قَالَ: «إِنَّ التُّجَّارَ هُمُ الْفُجَّارُ» قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَلَيْسَ قَدْ أَحَلَّ اللهُ الْبَيْعَ، وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبَا؟ قَالَ: «بَلَى وَلَكِنَّهُمْ يَحْلِفُونَ وَيَأْثَمُونَ»

١٥٦٦٦/٣ - ثُمَّ قَالَ: «إِنَّ الْفُسَّاقَ هُمْ أَهْلُ النَّارِ» قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَنِ الْفُسَّاقُ؟ قَالَ: «النِّسَاءُ» قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَلَسْنَ أُمَّهَاتِنَا، وَبَنَاتِنَا، وَأَخَوَاتِنَا؟ قَالَ: «بَلَى وَلَكِنَّهُنَّ إِذَا أُعْطِينَ لَمْ يَشْكُرْنَ، وَإِذَا ابْتُلِينَ لَمْ يَصْبِرْنَ»

١٥٦٦٦/٤ - ثُمَّ قَالَ: «يُسَلِّمُ الرَّاكِبُ عَلَى الرَّاجِلِ، وَالرَّاجِلُ عَلَى الْجَالِسِ، وَالْأَقَلُّ عَلَى الْأَكْثَرِ، فَمَنْ أَجَابَ السَّلَامَ كَانَ لَهُ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يُجِبْ، فَلَا شَيْءَ لَهُ»
